All the 4-1-1 about Holistic Cocktails

Hey Friend!

My name is Salia, thanks for popping by!

So you want to know what Holistic Cocktails is all about, and I get it – it’s new, it’s different, and what the heck even is it?!

Holistic Cocktails are non (or low- less than 0.5%) alcoholic cocktails that give you similar effects as alcohol. It lowers your stress, boosts your mood, can give you a body buzz, and it helps keep the conversations flowing.

So how the heck did I even come up with Holistic Cocktails?

Holistic Cocktails came out of 3 needs for me – my eczema, my distaste towards alcohol, and my mental health.

Need 1: I started my first business on the fact that I had eczema and was able to heal it by switching to organic bedding. I had something called contact dermatitis. Eczema was gone for 5 years then BAM! The pandemic hit and my eczema came back, even though nothing else changed – which means it stemmed from stress which causes several imbalances in the body.

So I’m back to square 1 of healing my eczema, but this time I’m working from the inside out. I’m focusing on healing my gut and reducing my stress to get my body’s natural balance back in order.

The only thing about that is if I want to be social with friends and have myself a drink, it puts me back a couple of steps since alcohol can be really hard on your gut and hormones (not to freak you out if you do drink, you do you boo!)

But for me, it was a personal choice I realized I wanted to try and omit as much as possible but still find a way to join in the social “drinking” festivities.

Need 2: I hate alcohol. When I was younger, me and alcohol were friends and we got along great! – until we didn’t.

As I got older, whenever I would drink, I’d get migraines or “hangovers” within an hour of drinking – so fun, I know.

I hate the taste of alcohol, and knowing that it’s not helping me at all and making me feel worse just made me hate it even more. PLUS if I’m going to spend money on something bad, I’d MUCH rather buy dessert instead of a drink. Ya feel me?! Anyone?! No? Ok…

*ANYWAYS*

The closest “healthier-ish” option that worked for me was when I drank hard kombucha which is kombucha that has been fermented longer to allow the alcohol to develop. Kombucha is great for adding probiotics (aka gut-friendly healthy bacteria) to your body.

And while this was a better option, it still didn’t eliminate the fact of *taste*

And yea yea, I could be the person to not give in to peer pressure and say no, but when you’re already an introvert and you’re left out on the celebratory “cheers” and fun games, then the fomo gets real.

Plus, I love mixology! I think it’s so fun and love how interactive it is, especially when you can people gathered around.

Need 3: Mental health. Did you know that alcohol is actually a depressant? So when you drink to try and escape, it can actually lower your internal frequency.

I was at a point in life where I just needed help. It wasn’t extreme, but I wasn’t me. I was listening to a podcast and one of the guests mentioned how she takes daily herbs and supplements because it helps you to feel more like you. The you without the fog, the lack of energy, and everything else that comes with it. Holistic Cocktails was an answer for me to add the plants and supplements into my system on a regular basis in hopes to balance my stress, hormones, boost my mental health, and more than anything – advocate for mental health in the health and wellness space. I feel like it’s not talked about enough.

So I thought to myself, is there any type of drink that has the benefits of alcohol without the negatives?

I have a history with holistic living, learning about different alternatives to the “conventional”.

So I thought, what makes alcohol good.

The body feeling

The happy mood

The social aspect

And luckily, I knew exactly what herbs and different healthy alternatives that give you the same effects!

And bam! Welcome to Holistic Cocktails, where I share cocktail recipes that give you similar effects of alcohol without the negatives.

It’s better for you short term AND long term. And the best part is that it’s totally ok to drink at work 😂 (because who wouldn’t want a cocktail in the middle of a crazy workday?!)

While I try and keep my cocktails non-alcoholic, do realize that kombucha and some tinctures/elixirs might have alcohol which a marked with *.

So if you’re someone who is switching over to a non-alcoholic lifestyle, is already someone who doesn’t drink but is *so* over the glorified soda juice mocktails, OR is just a health freak like me, welcome to the cluurrrb and don’t forget, it’s 5 o’clock somewhere 😉
